Pillows, pillows, pillows! My cup runeth over with pillows....

What a joy to create solely for my own pleasure for the first time in my life. My design career has certainly allowed me to flex my creative muscles over the years. However, I have always been constrained by my client's own wants and needs.

I have been sewing, crocheting and knitting since I was a young girl. My mother always had a "sewing center" set up in our home. And she taught me how to sew on an old black metal Singer that was a dinosaur compared to today's machines. I remember the day she brought home a new Sears model. It was a soft olive green color and came with all types of cams and gadgets to do fancy stitches. Wow, we were on cloud nine!

I sewed many of my own clothes during those days. It was so much fun to purchase the pattern, figure out the fabric, and buy the buttons, zippers and thread for the project. I remember laying out cloth and patterns to cut out on the dining room table. We had a cool pair of electric scissors that sliced right through the layers, and an extra large pair of cutting shears that I have in my possession to this day.

So, I'm returning to my roots. Yes, the "Home Economics" award-winner of the 8th grade is once again putting her talents to work. I am back to sewing on beads and buttons, sticking my fingers, and cursing at the sewing machine once in awhile. All done in order to create something that is both beautiful and unique.
